Serunya Family Gathering Disabilitas, Wujud Nyata Inklusi dan Kebersamaan

SUKABUMI CITY – A warm, togetherness-filled atmosphere was felt at the Family Gathering for People with Disabilities held by the Indonesian Red Cross in Sukabumi City on Saturday (February 14, 2026). The event served as a space for camaraderie and a platform to strengthen the spirit of inclusion for people with disabilities and their families.

From morning on, participants were enthusiastic about the series of events prepared by the committee. The event began with an opening ceremony, a prayer, and an introduction session to foster camaraderie. The atmosphere became even more lively as participants participated in icebreakers and community games led by volunteers.

One of the most anticipated activities is the river tubing event at the Kadulawang River Tubing area in Lembursitu District, Sukabumi City. With the assistance of volunteers, participants navigate the river on lifebuoys, prioritizing safety. Laughter and cheers accompany the exciting experience.

Sukabumi City PMI representative, Dinar Mochamad, stated that this activity demonstrates PMI's commitment to supporting the inclusion movement in Sukabumi City. Furthermore, the event was held ahead of the holy month of Ramadan and also commemorated the tradition of "papajar" (the traditional prayer) as a time to strengthen ties.

"This is the PMI Sukabumi City's commitment to continuously foster inclusion. As we approach the fasting month with the papajar tradition, we want to bring joy and togetherness to our brothers and sisters with disabilities," he said.

Meanwhile, Sulaeman, Head of the Sukabumi City Indonesian Red Cross (Pertuni), expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Sukabumi City Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) for its long-standing role as Pertuni's mentor. He explained that the PMI consistently provides monthly support through coaching and capacity-building activities for visually impaired members.

"We would like to thank the Sukabumi City Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) as the Pertuni mentor. Every month, we provide coaching and capacity-building activities for our visually impaired friends," said Sulaeman.

He emphasized that his blind friends have the same rights, including the right to happiness and enjoyment of fellowship. "My blind friends also have the same rights, one of which is the right to be happy together through this gathering," he added.

This Disability Family Gathering is proof that inclusion isn't just a slogan, but rather a tangible manifestation. Together, everyone is equal, empowers one another, and shares joy.
